HEERLEN - Police arrested six people Friday night on suspicion of involvement in a shooting that same evening on or around the trailer park on the Hitjesweg in Heerlen (Heerlerheide). Two men, aged 25 and 28, were wounded in that shooting.
The 28-year-old wounded man was arrested at the hospital as a suspect. The reason for the shooting is relational, police suspect. Beyond that, little is yet clear about the circumstances. It is a complex case because of the many people involved in the incident, police say. The suspects are five men (ages 18, 22, 28, 28 and 43) and one woman (23), all from Heerlen. Both of the injured are still in the hospital. The 28-year-old injured suspect is still in ICU, but is out of life danger, says his lawyer Serge Weening. Due to restrictions, he cannot say anything about the case.
