A total of 29 premises were raided. This resulted in the discovery of 1,600 hemp plants and 2,900 cannabis cuttings. Furthermore, fourteen cars and boats worth 120,000 euros were seized. In addition, the police found many goods for hemp cultivation, as well as tasers, weapons, computers and cell phones. All of these were taken away for investigation.
Western Mining Region
Police launched an investigation into the large drug network in early May based on signals. The action on Tuesday involved nearly 200 employees of the Public Prosecutor's Office, the police, the Tax Department, the Ministry of Defense and the Team undermining Limburg. The raids took place mainly in the Western Mining Region. In addition, premises were searched in Heerlen, Kerkrade, Elsloo, locations in North and Central Limburg and Gelderland.
Untouchable
In recent months, a number of explosions related to furnished drug labs took place in Sittard residential neighborhoods. "A certain group of people consider themselves untouchable and cause a lot of unrest in their own residential area. With other parties we have committed the upcoming period to protect people," Mayor Sjraar Cox told the press conference. "The raids should lead to us putting a stop to the web."
Most of the arrests were in Sittard and Geleen, but people were also arrested in Kerkrade, Heerlen, Velddriel and Kerkdriel. Former growshop owner Mario van den B. from Sittard is one of the fourteen suspects arrested.
