Because of the reconstruction of the shooting at The Brothers coffee shop in Heerlen, the Heerlerbaan was closed Thursday.

The reconstruction will take place from 8:30 p.m. to 9:10 p.m. The sun will be in exactly the same position then as it was during the shooting.

Suspect Glenn K drove into police officers in August 2013. One police officer then shot at the suspect's car, seriously injuring the passenger. Reconstruction should reveal whether Glenn K acted in self-defense. His argument is that he did not recognize the police officers as such, felt threatened and wanted to get away.

Conviction

The Maastricht court earlier sentenced the shooting police officer to two years in prison. On appeal, he received no sentence because he acted in self-defense.
