Limburg liquidation suspect in jail (Telegraaf.nl)

MAASTRICHT -A man has been arrested in Albania who allegedly shot and killed 23-year-old Limburger Soufien Lahnstein in Maastricht in late 2013. This Perparim S. (35) is under lock and key in his native country. This emerges from confidential court documents, accessed by De Telegraaf.

This almost certainly represents a breakthrough in the long-running murder investigation. Soufien Lahnstein was liquidated on December 1, 2013, on the Oeverwal on the edge of Maastricht city center. Perparim S., arrested in Albania, is said to have fired the fatal shots in the process, according to informed sources to investigators. The investigators tracked S. down during the investigation by statements and by checking telephone data. These could be linked to the victim and have now finally led to S., who hails from the Albanian city of Fier.

He was detained in his cell because he was already detained on suspicion of involvement in a shooting in his home country.

A man from Liège is also behind bars for the murder of Lahnstein, whose car was found burned out shortly after the murder in Jalhay, Belgium. Serge Weening, involved in the matter as a lawyer, confirmed being aware of Perparim S.'s arrest in Albania, but did not want to comment further.
