Suspect large-scale fireworks trade need not go to jail

A client suspected of trafficking and having hundreds of kilograms of professional fireworks on hand has received a low(er) sentence on appeal to the Amsterdam Court of Appeal. The court had sentenced the client to 14 months in prison, of which 8 months was suspended. Because the defense on appeal emphasized the personal circumstances of the client, the prison sentence was limited to 70 days. Client had already served those in pretrial detention. In addition, the court imposed a 6-month suspended prison sentence and 240 hours of community service.
