Prison sentences of up to 12 years have been demanded against four Limburg men for exporting drugs via postal packages.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the men traded xtc, MDMA, cocaine and heroin mainly through the dark web to forty countries. In court in Rotterdam, the prosecution demanded prison sentences of twelve, seven, five and three years.
Drop-off point
The Netherlands plays a very prominent role on the closed section of the Internet in drug trafficking through packages. When a package of drugs was intercepted, police were able to retrieve camera footage from the drop-off point in Brunssum and roll up the group. The men were arrested in May 2018 and are now 25, 28, 36 and 54 years old.
Searches
During searches, dozens of kilograms of pills and other drugs, postal packages, dyes and a tablet machine were found. Over a hundred packages of drugs were intercepted.
Paying half a million
Twelve years were demanded against the 36-year-old main suspect, because he allegedly led the group and the bitcoin payments came into his account. The prosecution wants him to pay over a million to the State, as so-called deprivation of criminal earnings.
