HEERLEN - The owner of the private shelter PuberEnZo in Heerlen has fled abroad. The man no longer feels safe in Limburg after vandalism and arson at his home. His lawyer Serge Weening thinks the police should protect his client.The 42-year-old Heerlen man was acquitted Tuesday of sexual abuse of youngsters entrusted to his care. Immediately after the verdict, youths caused destruction and set fire to a caravan in his backyard. On the advice of the police, the man will not return to his home in the Heerlen district of Schaesbergerveld. He receives no police protection, to the displeasure of his counselor Weening. The owner of PuberEnZo spent eight months on remand. 'Justice kicked him out on the street, took everything away from him. Then Justice should also ensure that my client can resume a normal life."
