Why did Ger Douven from Schinveld have to die? What possessed all those suspects involved in this contract killing? On March 7, this lurid drama will be heard in court in Maastricht. It looks like a reckoning in the criminal milieu when on March 12, 2003, on a field road in the Danikerbos near Puth, the charred corpse of Ger Douven is found in the trunk of his burnt-out BMW. After autopsy, it turned out that Douven had been shot in the upper body as well as in the neck. Moreover, everyone in the village was aware that the 51-year-old Schinvelder, a "good acquaintance of the police," was dealing in narcotics. And that shortly before that March 12, he had been sent home from prison on special leave for six weeks because of an ankle fracture.
With car and all, "Gert-with-the-loose-hands" was eliminated for 15,000 euros by a Dutch hitman.
But soon the police suspect that Douven's 27-year younger ex-girlfriend Rhonda, also the mother of their two sons Clint and Bryan, knows more about the case. And she's not alone. After in-depth investigations, the detectives unravel an ingenious murder plot.
The beautiful Rhonda indeed turns out to be the evil genius behind the gruesome death of the father of her children. Ger, known as "the man with the loose hands," had threatened and abused her on several occasions.
But there is another motive. Other drug trafficker arrested in July 2002 in house on Pastor Greymans, the P. overlooked a large sum of money during search. The exact amount remains unknown, but is said to be between 30,000 and 60,000. And over that loot Rhonda had fermd.
'Preferably dead'
Just a few months later, she tells her friend Tiny, the owner of Sunshine Beauty Center in Schinen in which Rhonda has invested part of it, that she wants to get rid of the man and would "prefer to see him dead. Rhonda then also just got a new love.
Tiny does want to help and asks son Roy if he doesn't know someone Ger can get out of the way. Roy then threatens Harold R., someone with whom he set up a hemp plantation and who frequently tells a hundred about his mission as a Dutch professional soldier in Bosnia.
Heerlen decides to execute Harold for 15,000 euros. To rule out any mistake, Rhonda gives Harold a passport photo of her ex. It must be done quickly because Ger, who went on probation on Feb. 27, is turning more and more because of if those missing euros.
Rhonda has not been safe living at home for a long time. ON March 12, the murder plot is carried out. Rhonda contacts her former love by phone around ten o'clock. She had promised to return the money that day. However, Rhonda tells her that she is in a friend's car on the Herkenbosch and has a breakdown. Whether he can come and help. When the Schinveldener arrives there, Harold emerges from a ditch. With a Heckler & Koch at the ready. Ger tries to flee but the hitman shoots him from behind, then coldly finishes the job. Ger's watch remains permanently stationary at 10:20 p.m.
Undercover to the beauty center
Naturally, Rhonda is quickly interviewed by the police. Because her statements rattle on all sides, she is detained for some time. However, the police do not get the evidence and have to let her go.
The detectives then deploy two female undercover agents who spend months getting their nails done and going under a tanning bed at friend Tiny's Beauty Center, where Rhonda also frequents. The agents thus build a friendly relationship with the women, even visiting their homes, and then, after more than a year, the debauchery becomes fatal to the suspects.
Patron Rhonda, hired killer Harold, accomplice Tiny and mediator Roy will undoubtedly have to face severe punishment. And that for a murder of someone for whom, as many people in Schinveld say, "one does not shed a tear.
