Ten months for Brunssum fornicator
MAASTRICHT/SCHINNEN - The court sentenced fornicator Paul F. (51) from Brunssum to twenty months in prison, ten of which were suspended, with a probation period of five years. The prosecution's demand was 240 hours of community service and one year of suspended imprisonment. F. must also undergo forensic psychiatric treatment and was banned from contact with young girls. Paul F. confessed earlier that as a swimming teacher in Schinnen he was guilty of sexual abuse with underage pupils several times. He also admitted to fornicating with two nieces during several sleepovers. "He deliberately mentally manipulated his victims and it is impermissible that he initially tried to cover up his actions. The court charges him very strongly for that," the court said. Serge Weening, lawyer for Paul F., was surprised by the what he called excessively high sentence. "I will consider with my client whether we will appeal," he announced yesterday. The case, which has been in play since late 2005, was heard in Maastricht by judges from the Roermond court.
