Suspects carnival murder in court

Maastricht - The six Geleen suspects in the manslaughter of fellow townsman Fer Loontjes must appear in court in Maastricht on Tuesday, May 20. This is a pro forma hearing at which the case will not yet be heard substantively.
The six are suspected of jointly having deliberately robbed Fer Loontjes of his life in café 't Vlaegelke on the Markt in Geleen on Carnival Sunday. Loontjes was so badly beaten that he succumbed to his injuries two weeks later in hospital. The six kicked and punched Loontjes and hit his head with a bar stool or other hard object.

Main suspect Stephan P., previously sentenced to eight years in prison for the murder of Geleen's kastelein Tonie Kentjens, is also suspected of having carried a number of bullet cartridges and ecstasy with him on that particular carnival Sunday.
