S. seen at Utrecht and Den Bosch stations

Geleen - Police raided the upstairs apartment of S.'s girlfriend on the Raadhuisstraat in Geleen on Tuesday, March 4, but did not find the man there. Since that day, Gennaro S. has been listed in the police records as a fugitive. He wle been seen at the NS railway stations of Utrecht and Den Bosch, among others. The police have requested images from security cameras at the stations from the Dutch Railways.Gennaro S. had been staying in Geleen a lot lately because his girlfriend was pregnant with him. The woman gave birth to dee daughter a week before the fatal bar brawl. His friend Stephan P., who is in jail as a suspect in Loontjes' manslaughter, allegedly persuaded him to go into town with him on Carnival Sunday. Attorney Peer Szymkowiak of Stephen P. would not say anything yesterday about Gennaro S. and his alleged role. Also his office colleague Serge Weening who is assisting Paul S., the suspect who was last arrested, would not say anything about matters "that do not directly concern my client." The press officer of the public prosecutor's office in Maastricht would neither confirm nor deny that the police are looking for S. Gennaro S. is said to be the man who first gave Fer Loontjes a punch at one of the slot machines in café 't Vlaegelke during the quarrel that cost the Geleenden man his life. Fer Loontjes is said to have gone back inside the café after he was worked out by the group of men, probably including S.. There he allegedly kicked Gennaro S. in the shins. Loontjes was then beaten within one minute to such an extent, according to witnesses also with bar stool, that he died of his injuries almost two weeks later. It has since been determined that he died from "impacting violence on his head" which ruptured an artery in his skull. The victim also had fractures in the eye sockets and in the forehead bone. His body was full of bruises and injuries at autopsy.

Police and prosecutors have seven suspects in the Loontjes case. Only Gennaro S. has so far remained out of the hands of investigative authorities. Two suspects have since been released.
