VLIJMEN/DEN BOSCH - The arrest of five Romanians in recent days has solved at least twenty residential burglaries in the Den Bosch region. Last week, in the night of Thursday to Friday around 5:00 am,the police detained a 17-year-old Romanian on the Biessertweg in Vlijmen. This happened as a result of burglaries committed that night in Vlijmen-Oost. A second man managed to escape the officers. Early Tuesday morning, detectives found four Romanians(19, 21, 25 and 26 years old) in a wooded area of the Engelermeer in a number of tents. In the tents goods were found that had been stolen. A search with police dogs had also been conducted at the lake on Sunday. It seems that the gang has been active in the past two weeks in Vlijmen-Oost, Bokhoven, Rosmalen, Drunen and Oisterwijk. In total, they are suspected of having committed about twenty burglaries.
They entered via the Bulgarian method: forcing a cylinder lock. The perpetrators generally took away power tools and small goods such as watches from homes and sheds. Furthermore, they regularly consumed drinks and food in the homes. Police are currently working with eight detectives on the case. The investigation is still ongoing and it is not excluded that more burglaries will be solved.
