The court acquitted two Muslims from Arnhem of preparing terrorist crimes. The judge found no evidence that the two men, aged 22 and 27, wanted to participate in the armed struggle in Syria.
Prosecutors last month demanded two years in prison against Mohamed el A. and Hakim B. for preparing terrorist crimes. The two were arrested in Germany in August 2013. They were on their way to Syria, the prosecution says. The men were carrying camouflage clothing and balaclavas, among other things, and had left farewell letters.
