Court rejects reconstruction of acid murders (Limburger)

MAASTRICHT - No reconstruction of the murder of Mouhammed Al Jader, last year in Tudderen, will take place for the time being. The court in Maastricht rejected a request from the lawyer of one of the suspects. According to the court, there is currently insufficient interest in a reconstruction of the events. Wouter Smeets, attorney for Ron van K., had requested the reconstruction. "It is unfortunate that it is rejected at this time, but there is still the possibility that a reconstruction will take place in the future. I think it would create a better picture of what all took place."

MouhammedAl Jader was killed last year when he was shot dead at the L. family's farm in Tudderen. This involved several family members of the L. family. Family friend Ron van K. allegedly dissolved Al Jader's corpse in hydrochloric acid.In 2009, he is said to have done the same to the corpse of Alan Gergeri, an Iraqi who was also killed by a member of the L. family. Van K. is currently detained, as are Hub L., his wife Els and his sons Michel and Maurice. Daughter Rachelle L, also suspected of involvement in the murder, but she is still a fugitive. Meanwhile, it has also become clear that a freezer in which Al Jader's corpse was kept for a while eventually ended up at a chip shop in South Limburg. There it was subsequently put to use. Incidentally, the friture owner knew nothing of the freezer's prior history.

The court further ruled that 23 more witnesses may be heard, which the defendants' defense had requested. A request to fully type out all interrogations conducted so far was rejected by the court. Only the most important passages need be put in writing, with both the prosecutor and the defendants' lawyers allowed to indicate what needs to be worked out. The next hearing in the case will take place Oct. 23. Content of the murders will not be heard until 2013.
