MAASTRICHT - Officers fired three shots at a stolen motorist Wednesday afternoon around 5:30 p.m. in Maastricht as he drove into officers. No one was injured, police announced.
The car had been stolen earlier Wednesday in Maastricht. Officers saw the car driving and were able to force the driver to stop on Willem Alexanderweg. There the police picked up the passenger, a 25-year-old Maastricht man. Immediately afterwards, the driver suddenly accelerated and drove into the officers, who fired on the car. Pursued by the police, the motorist fled across the Belgian border and was forced to stop there with the help of Belgian police. The three occupants, a man and two women, were arrested.
