Physical therapist not prosecuted for lewdness (Telegraph)

ROERMOND- A physiotherapist from northern Limburg who was detained for 38 days in 2010 after a patient accused him of lewdness will no longer appear in criminal court. The Public Prosecutor's Office in Roermond dismissed the case against him last month due to lack of evidence. A spokesman said this on Tuesday when asked.

The woman said she only had complaints about her ankle and knee but that the physical therapist performed pressure point massage around her pubic area. The man has always denied the allegations.

His lawyer Serge Weening asked for damages. The amount is higher than the standard compensation for wrongful imprisonment because the physical therapist lost income. Counsel on Tuesday called it regrettable that the prosecution does not investigate a case more thoroughly before incarcerating someone for a long time.

The disciplinary judge did previously impose a warning on the physical therapist for not adequately informing the woman about the embarrassing treatment.
