Press release regarding Donny M.
Today the District Court of Limburg rendered judgment in the case in which we are assisting Donny M.. Client was sentenced for, among other things, the murder of Gino to a 25-year prison sentence, TBS with compulsory treatment and an art. 38z measure.
On October 18, the defense pleaded, among other things, that there was no premeditation and argued that client should be acquitted of the primary charge of murder. In addition, it was requested to impose a substantially lower prison sentence than 28 years as demanded by the public prosecutor. This was partly in view of the personal circumstances of the client, but also because the chances of successful treatment decrease with a preceding lengthy prison sentence.
Because the court did not follow the aforementioned defenses, we are currently considering whether to appeal. Once the defense has reached a decision, the decision will be communicated through a press release.
