OM double murder attempt in Roermond

ROERMOND - The 41-year-old Peter T. from Tegelen must answer in court in Roermond for a double murder attempt in late July in Roermond. Justice accuses the man of trying to take the lives of his ex-partner and her friend.

Peter T. allegedly shot at both women on Friday evening, July 23, in Roermond's Voorstad Sint Jacob. The prosecution also accuses the Tegelen man of holding his former girlfriend hostage. He allegedly held her during a struggle and put a gun to her head. The suspect then allegedly told his son via his cell phone that he would "destroy" the woman and himself. After the woman was out of his grasp, the man threatened to shoot himself in the head if the police, who were now on the scene, approached. Just before an arrest team wanted to intervene, a police negotiator was able to persuade T. to surrender.According to lawyer Serge Weening of Peter T., the readings of T. and the women about the reason for the quarrel and events that evening diverge.

The 32-year-old ex-partner was hospitalized for several days after her perilous adventure. Her friend was not injured. The two women wanted to visit the ex-partner's mother that evening when T. waited for them in a parking lot. The first trial against T. is on Nov. 4. The case will not be heard substantively then.
