Now woman official also suspected
DEN BOSCH - The wife of the county official suspected of corruption was arrested yesterday morning. She is suspected of receiving stolen goods and money laundering, said prosecutor's spokesman Wim de Bruin. The woman is in custody. Her lawyer Serge Weening is outraged and feels that the justice system is abusing its power: "This is an outrageous means of pressure towards her husband. This woman has three small children, one of whom is autistic." In addition to the 32-year-old woman from Voerendaal, three more employees of road construction company Janssen de Jong Infra have been arrested. They are a 52-year-old man from Maasbracht (who was released after questioning), a 34-year-old resident of Landgraaf and a 37-year-old man from Oirsbeek. They are suspected of bribing officials.
In total, there are now 19 suspects in the corruption case. Eleven of them are still in custody: six officials, four employees of Janssen de Jong and the wife of the county official.
