Murder in Roermond becomes manslaughter at court (1Limburg.nl)

Ten years in prison for manslaughter. That's the sentence the court in Den Bosch handed down to Roermond resident Samir S., who stabbed his ex's new boyfriend to death with a knife in her home in 2011.

S. was previously sentenced by the court to 12 years and then by the trial court to 13 years in prison, as both times murder was deemed proven.

However, the Supreme Court ruled in 2014 that the court had to retry the case because it had not sufficiently substantiated that S. acted with premeditation. In the new verdict, that is not deemed proven, which is why S. is now convicted of manslaughter. Samir S himself has always denied and in 2015 suddenly came out with the statement that his ex-girlfriend would have stabbed Hessam Lajevardi -accidentally- with a knife.
