The lawyers of the two main suspects in the so-called sewer and trunk murder argued Friday for acquittal before the court in Leeuwarden.
The prosecution on Wednesday demanded 30 years in prison against Dwight W. and Anand J. for 2 murders, including that of Almeerder René Karamatali. According to the lawyers, there is insufficient evidence to substantiate this.
Incriminating statements made by witnesses to the police are being questioned by the lawyers. Indeed, during the appeal, these witnesses largely remained silent about their previous statements. According to the defense, this created a lack of evidence. The trial court will rule in two weeks.
