MAASTRICHT - A 28-year-old man from Kerkrade has been detained on suspicion of committing what is known as "grooming," digital child luring. He is also suspected of seducing a minor into fornication and committing a sexual act of a young boy in his hometown.

The abuse allegedly took place from February to mid-June this year. Antoin H. sought contact with minors through Facebook under the false name "Jeffreyzegikniet" and met with an 11-year-old boy in the neighborhood. However, the child's parents got wind of this and managed to catch H. and their son red-handed in a bush near the nearby Rolduc Abbey.

Court documents show that the hastily alerted police arrested the suspected Kerkrade man while he was being held by the victim's father there. The little victim stated to investigators that he had been forced to perform sexual acts on the man.

H. appears to have a moral history. He was sentenced to a one-year prison term and juvenile probation for several sex offenses, among others.According to his counsel Ivo van de Bergh, his client was "lured into a trap."

"My client has previously been bullied away in his hometown and it now appears that a plan has been set up by these same individuals to have him locked up for an extended period of time. Client therefore denies being guilty of these acts and we want to get to the bottom of this."
