Limburg 'ghost doctor' released (Telegraaf.nl)
KERKRADE - The 28-year-old Alexander D. from Kerkrade, who allegedly falsely identified himself as a doctor for years and is also suspected of money laundering and forgery, has been released. His equally suspected mother Hannie D. has also been released. This is confirmed by her lawyer Sanne Koumans.
The pair had been detained for some time, but remain suspects in the extensive fraud case involving personal budgets (PGB) surrounding their care mediation company Baas in Zorg. Justice decided, at Koumans' request, to release the duo now because the mother of Hannie D., who investigators say led the dubious enterprise, is dying.
It is nice that the prosecution has concluded with me that there is a compelling personal interest. The family is very pleased with the result and the homecoming of my client and her son," said the Maastricht criminal lawyer. 'Ghost doctor' A. D. gave insulin injections and allegedly even euthanized people while he was not qualified to do so, according to statements in the police file.
The investigation in this case is ongoing.
