SITTARD/MADRID - Hub L. was missing from police and justice for six months, but this week he was apprehended in Spain. The 58-year-old Sittarden man is suspected of murdering Iraqi Mouhammed Al Jader, Aug. 6 last year. L. is also suspected of allowingAl Jader's body to disappear.
After Al Jader was killed, his body was allegedly dissolved in hydrochloric acid. This happened in the Belgian town of Gellik, near Lanaken. L., who lives just across the border in Tudderen (D), was arrested in Spain at the request of the Public Prosecutor's Office (OM) in the Netherlands. Justice wants to bring the murder suspect to the Netherlands as soon as possible. A request to extradite L. has already been issued. When L. will actually come to the Netherlands is not yet known. Justice in the Netherlands had L. in its sights for some time. How the Sittarden man could be traced, the justice department would not say. "In fact, we hope to repeat this trick one more time," says a justice spokeswoman. This refers to the arrest of Rachelle L. (19), Hub's daughter. She is currently a fugitive. "Of course, we hope to apprehend her as soon as possible."
Hub L. was untraceable for a long time after he fled from the police in late 2011. He was able to flee because the police had to arrest son (and co-accused) Michel L. on the spur of the moment because he was in mortal danger. According to the justice system, the L. family was threatened. Because of this police intervention, Hub andRachelle were able to flee. Incidentally, the Justice Department informs us that there have been no threats against the L. family for some time now. Earlier, 100,000 euros were put on the members of the L. family in the criminal circuit.
Four relatives of Hub L. are suspected in the murder. They are his wife Els, his daughter Rachelle and his sons Michel and Maurice. The latter is also suspected of murdering Iraqi Alan Gergeri. A family friend, Ron van K. is also a suspect.
With the arrest of Hub L., the murder case now spreads to four countries; Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
