'Errors in report of' (The Limburger)
TUDDEREN/SITTARD - There are mistakes in the report of the undercover agent deployed in the acid murder case. So says witness Paolo, who plays an important role in the report, it emerged yesterday during a hearing in the case.
Five members of the L. family from Tudderen are suspected of involvement in two murders, of Mouhammed al Jader and Alan Gergeri - in 2009 and 2011. Daughter Rachelle L. is still a fugitive. In addition to the family members, family friend Ron van K. is also a suspect. Lawyers for the five suspects who are in custody questioned Paolo, the prosecution's key witness, yesterday morning. "In crucial parts the report is not correct according to Paolo," said Wouter Smeets, lawyer of Van K. "For example, how Els L. would have held the weapon when she shot at Mouhammed al Jader. Also, Paolo indicated that part of what he told the undercover agent was grandstanding." The report also stated that the undercover agent allegedly reenacted Al Jader's murder with son Michel L. in a "play. The agent then wrote down that he could deduce from "a certain look" from Michel that he must have fired the fatal shot.
Therefore, the defendants' lawyers now want to call the undercover agent named in the A3442 file as a witness. They want clarity on the alleged errors and the views in the report. Again, the lawyers made a request to hold a reconstruction and an inquest, at the residence in Tudderen, Germany. Counsel SergeWeening on such a hearth: "There have been two murders in that residence. I think it is necessary for the judges to see the situation with their own eyes." The next hearing in the case is May 14. On June 3, the court hopes to actually hear the case substantively.
The court will decide on the lawyers' requests on March 19.
