'Elvis' free after fatal neck clamp in Geleen coffee shop dispute: 'Defended with bare hands against armed attack' (Limburger.nl)

Geleen - Martin J. (58), alias Elvis, will not go to prison for the fatal neck pinch with which he killed 49-year-old Rodney Poteat in Geleen on July 28, 2023. The court ruled that Elvis acted in self-defense. In doing so, the court follows the defense of the 58-year-old Geleen resident and his attorney Sjanneke de Crom. "In our view, this is a justified ruling. If this - defending yourself in your own home with bare hands against someone with a weapon - is no longer self-defense, I don't know what is," De Crom states.
