MAASTRICHT - A 51-year-old construction technology teacher at Eijkenhagen College in Landgraaf was acquitted yesterday by the police judge in Maastricht of lewdness with a 14-year-old student.According to the girl, the man groped her in the pubic area, but he denies it: "She wants to spank me," the man told police judge Van den Acker. Why she would want that, he didn't know either: "Maybe because I'm a little strict sometimes and think they should have their work clothes on in the workshop."
The girl's mother filed a police report. Because there were a witness who could substantiate her story, prosecutor Heemskerk felt compelled to ask for acquittal. The teacher's lawyer Weening agreed. The police judge also eventually had to conclude that "there is nothing lying that confirms the girl's report."
