Doubts about psyche of murder suspect Grandma Rini (1Limburg.nl)

The mental state of Belgian Sandra N. (38), suspected in the murder of 82-year-old Rini Ansems, is under scrutiny.

This is confirmed by sources around the investigation.

Attributable

There would be doubts about the mental state of the woman from Vroenhoven, Belgium. Investigations should reveal to what extent Sandra N. was accountable at the time of the murder she allegedly committed.

Restrictions

The case is in restrictions for now, which means Sandra N. is only allowed to have contact with her lawyer. "Therefore, I cannot respond to questions surrounding this case either," said counselor Serge Weening. The Belgian's remand has now been extended for the second time; she will remain in pre-trial detention for at least another month.

Bloodied hands

The suspect's mother previously opened up about the case in Het Belang van Limburg. On the day of the murder, her daughter got into the car with bloodied hands. In a suitcase belonging to her daughter, mother Jeannine found a bloodied coat and towel, garden shears and the knife with which Ansems was presumably murdered.

Grandma Rini

Ansems, affectionately called Grandma Rini by acquaintances, was found dead in the garage of her Wolder home on Jan. 26. She died of multiple stabbings.
