TILBURG - Twelve years in prison traf has been demanded on appeal against a 23-year-old Tilburger for the death sign of 39-year-old Moustapha Souhail.
That is the sentence the court in Breda also imposed earlier.
Attorney S. Weening argued before the court in Den Bosch that his client was wrongly convicted of murder. There was no question of premeditation, he said.
Souhail was stabbed to death on the corner of Piron Street on the night of January 20. This had been preceded by an argument on the Pieter Postplein. When the later victim left with two others in a car, the Tilburger threw a can of beer after them. Souhail then returned and entered into congrontation with the Tilburger, despite the fact that the latter had a knife in his.
According to Weening, his client may be entitled to a claim of self-defense because Souhail had a stone in his hand.
