Demand jail for two Krijnens
MAASTRICHT - Unconditional prison sentences were demanded yesterday in Maastricht against two members of the Krijnen family for threatening and using violence against the police. Breur (38) heard six months against him, against brother-in-law William M. (35) 3 months were demanded.
Breur's 19-year-old son Michael should receive 30 hours of community service for failing to obey police orders, according to District Attorney Leonard Geuns. Junior had also been on the fence in the morning in another case, which was settled with a settlement: 20 hours of community service. DeKrijnens had to answer for, among other things, threatening and use of violence against the police.Officers had responded to a report of a brawl at Breur's residence, under the Noorderbrug, on October 27 last night. There, a
birthday party of Breur's friend got out of hand. Breur and William had been fighting. There had been tension in the family after mother Tiny's eviction.
The men had been aggressive with the police when they came to check up on them and did not comply with the request to scramble or at least call in their "own" trusted neighborhood officers. Dispatchers reported statements such as "Mount up or I'll beat you to death" and "Come on, I'll beat you up, you homo. During push and pull, an officer received a punch in the face from Breur. Breur was initially unaware that it was a cop, he said. When he realized that, he immediately got down on his knees to be arrested. "I realized I had made a big mistake and didn't want to make it worse. Also, still have to take care of my mother." Brother-in-law William was vehemently opposed to surrender and freaked out, according to reporters. The men had been drinking. William had removed his outer clothing, put on black gloves and made kung fu moves. It would have been better if the police had not interfered in an internal argument, then things would not have gotten so out of hand, the suspects opined. The police action against William had been disproportionate, argued attorney Peer Szymkowiak. Which was refuted by the prosecutor; the police had limited themselves to truncheon and pepper spray. Geuns argued that the men should have simply let the police do their job.
'Come on, I'll beat you up, gay'
The multiple sentencing chamber will deliver its verdict on Nov. 25. Breur also faces execution of a previously imposed 12-month suspended prison sentence. Damages were also demanded. The request to lift the provisional detention was rejected. Breur is detained in Breda,William inRoermond.
