Dead man Maastricht 'victim of reckoning' (Telegraaf.nl)

MAASTRICHT - The dead man found Tuesday morning in a flat on Koningsplein in Maastricht may have been the victim of a settlement. Neighbors say the man was active in the criminal circuit and that it was ' a matter of time' that this would happen. Police would not comment on the case.

The victim was found, according to a local resident, after his father had been unable to contact him for several days. He then reported this to the janitor who called the police. That found the man, a man in his fifties, "under suspicious circumstances. How long he had been lying dead in his fifth-floor apartment is unknown. "But I heard a lot of noise in that apartment on the night from Friday to Saturday. Now I think it might have happened then.

The victim is an acquaintance of the police, according to local residents. "He has been at large for several years, but we know he was detained. I don't know what for, either. But there were people coming over who you could suspect were unsavory. That's why I also think it's a reckoning."

Police do not want to say anything about the case and have formed a team of detectives to investigate. This will also involve the NFI to examine evidence.
