DEN BOSCH/MAASTRICHT - Two men involved in the July 29, 2004 robbery-murder of Pierre Collette have received substantially reduced sentences on appeal. The court in Den Bosch ruled that they did not intend to kill the man from Liège.The court yesterday sentenced 22-year-old Emrys H. to five years in prison, while the court in Maastricht imposed another nine years. Santino S. 22 received seven years, three years less than at the court.
Collette, 31, was lured from the then-gay meeting place Keelbos along the A79 motorway to St. Pietersberg with the promise of sex. There he was kicked, beaten with a baseball bat, stabbed in the chest with a knife and confiscated from his expensive Volvo XC 90.
