Kerkraden man almost certainly free for taking Serbian man hostage (Limburger.nl)

Maastricht - The 41-year-old Kerkraden resident Ron M. will almost certainly go free for the hostage-taking of a man of Serbian origin from Liège. This emerged Wednesday during the hearing of the case before the court in Maastricht. The acquittal comes partly because the victim and the suspected "real" perpetrator Sasja P., also called "Yugo-bear," have been missing for years.

On August 23, 2019, a barefoot man walks into a butcher shop in Kerkrade. A confused man, with injuries to wrists and ankles, bruises on the face and a cut on the chin. The Serb had traveled to Kerkrade from Liège to buy one and a half kilos of hemp. The man walks from the station to Danny H. Once inside, he is attacked by Danny and his mate Ron M. They push him into the basement, tie him up with tie wraps and abuse him. The hostage takers demand a ransom from the Liège man. The next morning, the man manages to pry the cable ties loose. He flees. When officers search the house, they find a tarp with the blood of the man of Serbian origin. The victim's clothing includes Danny's DNA.
