A former Marine is to be jailed for defrauding 29 people, including fellow Marines. He was also convicted of money laundering.
The military chamber of the Gelderland District Court called it outrageous that the 25-year-old man, as a Marine, violated the victims' trust, "when it is precisely Marines who should hold honesty, integrity and brotherhood in high regard."
On top of that, according to the court, the man reacted "incredibly" hostile to victims' attempts at resolution.
