S. allegedly dealt Loontjes the first blow on Carnival Sunday, February 3, which prompted the fatal altercation. Since then he has been a fugitive.
Gennaro S. was sentenced to seven years in prison in 1997 for his involvement in extremely violent incidents committed by a group of youths who became known as the Gang of Leerdam.
S. was a member of this gang, consisting of 14 Moluccan youths, in the 1990s. The gang members were convicted of more than ten violent and armed robberies of private individuals, illegal casinos and supermarkets, mainly in the Central Netherlands.
