Police on Monday arrested a 19-year-old man from Beekdaelen for involvement in a serious assault on a man during a traffic altercation.
That was announced Tuesday afternoon.
The assault took place Sunday afternoon, November 1, on the Buitenring near Nuth, near the A76 exit, after the traffic circle in the direction of Nuth/Kerkrade. A 40-year-old man from Brunssum was seriously injured in the incident. The victim will tell his story Tuesday evening in the TV program Opsporing Verzocht.
Traffic altercation in the middle of the road
The traffic altercation occurred after two cars took turns overtaking each other, after which the drivers got into an altercation. Both cars stopped in the middle of the road. A child of the victim, who was present at the scene, stated to police that there was yelling back and forth. Subsequently, the 40-year-old man from Brunssum received blows. A witness saw a small red car drive away, presumably containing three persons. The victim was transported by ambulance to the hospital severely injured.
