A man from Arnhem who wanted to travel to Syria was sentenced on appeal Tuesday. He allegedly wanted to participate in the fight in Syria and was given 18 months in prison, one year of which was suspended.
This was determined by the court in Arnhem on Tuesday, reports Omroep Gelderland. The person who traveled with him was acquitted.
In 2013, two Arnhemmers, Mohammed El A. and Hakim B., were arrested in Germany. They had just crossed the border in a rented car. Among other things, survival gear, lots of cash and explanations about a kalashnikov were found.
