KERKRADE - Several members of the Kerkrade family D. are suspected of using their company Baas in Zorg (BIZ) to defraud hundreds of needy elderly and disabled people for years by pocketing personal allowance budgets (pgb's).
They are in custody. The Justice Department is investigating the healthcare agency, which was also under the microscope of investigative agencies in 2011.
One of the suspects is Hannie D., who was the day-to-day manager at the company. The former administrative assistant at BIZ is also in jail. According to her lawyer Serge Weening, she has since been interrogated by the criminal investigation department.
Among other places, the offices of Baas in Zorg on Einderstraat in Kerkrade were raided last week, according to police sources.
Insiders in the care world speak of "BIZ's psychological mistreatment of the weak in our society. "BIZ often overblows single elderly and people with disabilities by personally lobbying them in assisted living and nursing homes. Once these often ignorant people have signed, the money flows in. This under the guise of: 'We arrange all the care for you.
According to sources at the Department of Social Support (WMO), in recent times many dozens of complaints from aggrieved people have come in about the modus operandi of the suspected D family. BIZ would also have submitted incorrect invoices to the municipality. ,,When you consider that per person a budget can amount to 60,000 euros, then you can count out what has been left on the bows for BIZ in all those years.
