Family suspected judo teacher: 'A terribly nasty movie' (De Gelderlander)
RUURLO - The family of the judo teacher suspected of sexual abuse and lewdness is trying to continue judo classes led by guest teachers. According to a family member, the judo school in Ruurlo has over five hundred members.
"We have received many responses from parents of pupils who hope the classes will continue. We are working on that. Furthermore, we are - if the suspicions turn out to be true - incredibly angry and disappointed. We as a family have been caught up in a terribly nasty movie."
According to police spokesman Anton de Ronde, there are no indications that the abuse or fornication took place during or after judo lessons. "Presumably everything took place outside the lessons," said police spokesman De Ronde.
'I can imagine that there is a need for information about this. I will consult with police and justice tomorrow," Mayor Hein Bloemen reported Tuesday on the municipal website.
Just two years ago, the judo trainer was promoted to the third dan by the Judo Bond Nederland (JBN) because of his part in national and international competitive judo over the past 30 years.
