MEERSSEN/ROTTERDAM - Yesterday morning, the public prosecutor had three more Limburg employees of road construction company Janssen de Jong Infra arrested on suspicion of bribery of officials and forgery. They are officials of the Meerssen branch of the company: a man from Maastricht (33), a Gelener (34) and a Hoensbroekener (30). Only the latter is still in custody; the other two were released last night, but remain suspects, confirmed spokesmanWim de Bruin of the national public prosecutor's office. The suspects are not directors, De Bruin said, but'ordinary' employees. According to lawyer Serge Weening of the Geleen suspect, his client is "cooperating well with the investigation." In total, there are now fifteen suspects in this case: seven civil servants and eight (former) employees of Janssen de Jong Infra.
The court in Den Bosch yesterday rejected the appeal against the detention of the provincial official and one of the directors of Janssen de Jong Infra. Director Eric Krul of the Janssen de Jong Group -the parent company of Janssen de Jong Infra-, who previously stated that bribery "does not fit into the company code," had "no comment" last night.
