NIJMEGEN - The 42-year-old Nijmegen man who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for shooting a woman to death in the Nijmegen Cronjéstraat is resigning himself to the verdict of the court in Arnhem. According to his lawyer, he wants to close the case to give the relatives peace of mind. The Public Prosecutor's Office will not appeal either.
The man was convicted two weeks ago of manslaughter and attempted murder last June. After fatally hitting the 68-year-old woman on Cronjé Street, he also shot around other places in the city. One man was seriously injured in the process. The Nijmegen man was sentenced to 18 years in prison.
